About Chiara

Italian soprano Chiara Giamboi is a Brussels-based artist whose radiant lyric-spinto voice and expressive sensitivity mark her as a compelling emerging talent on the European operatic scene.

Born and educated in Italy, Chiara began her musical studies in piano and voice at the National Conservatoire of Vibo Valentia before continuing her advanced vocal and operatic training in France and Belgium. Her artistic formation has been shaped by guidance from several internationally respected teachers, most recently including the distinguished pedagogue Janice Chapman in London, whose mentorship has further refined Chiara’s technical and interpretative command.

Chiara’s voice — rich in colour, warmth, and lyrical intensity — finds its natural home in the Italian verismo and late-Romantic repertoire. She brings a particular affinity to the heroines of Verdi, Puccini, and Cilea, while also exploring the sensual palette of French mélodie and the emotional breadth of Russian Romantic song, performing works by Gounod, Massenet, Debussy, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninov with stylistic authenticity and poetic insight.

Her performance experience includes a growing portfolio of recital and concert appearances across Italy, Belgium, and France, with programmes ranging from Puccini cycles with Maestro David Miller to explorations of rare verismo arias and the neglected Italian composers of the early twentieth century. She has appeared as soloist in oratorio and sacred works including Verdi’s, Dvořák’s, and Mozart’s Requiems, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, and Poulenc’s Stabat Mater, collaborating with distinguished ensembles such as Ensemble Minimes Cantat.

Equally at home on the recital platform, Chiara’s artistry embraces the intimacy of song. Her recent performances include themed programmes devoted to the Canciones Españolas of Falla and Granados, voice-and-organ collaborations with Xavier Deprez, and chamber recitals featuring French, German, and Russian repertoire, demonstrating both versatility and linguistic finesse.

"There was only one voice, the voice, hers."

Upcoming engagements include a series of concerts in Italy tracing the evolution of Italian opera, a recital of opera duos with tenor Aitor Sorozabal under David Miller, chamber recitals with pianist Jean-Yves Cornet, and a new programme for voice and flute with Laurence Schubert. In June 2026, she will appear as soprano soloist in Dvořák’s Stabat Mater conducted by David Navarro Turres.

Chiara’s performances are distinguished by expressive warmth, poised musical intelligence, and an eloquent dramatic presence — qualities that, combined with her evolving artistry, continue to captivate audiences and signal a promising future on the international stage.
