About Chiara

Chiara is an Italian soprano based in Brussels. She grew up in Italy and studied piano and voice at the National Conservatoire of Vibo Valentia. She later furthered her lyrical education in France and Belgium, whilst her continuous interest for vocal development and technique has also brought her to London where she currently works with Janice Chapman.

Chiara’s rich and warm lyrical-spinto voice is particularly suited for the Italian verismo repertoire, for Verdi and Puccini, as well as the French and Russian romantic repertoire, from Gounod, Massenet and Debussy to Tchaikovsky.

Her performances include various recitals dedicated to opera arias and her repertoire includes the Rossini, Dvorak and Poulenc’s Stabat Mater, Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle as well as Verdi, Dvorak and Mozart’s Requiems.  But she has also been keen to explore songs’ repertoire and her recital “Canciones Españolas” was a tribute to the masterpieces of Spanish composers such as Manuel de Falla, Granados and Turina.

"There was only one voice, the voice, hers."

She has recently completed a cycle of Puccini recitals accompanied by maestro David Miller and sung an eclectic voice and organ recital accompanied by Xavier Deprez, encompassing, among others, works from Wagner, Tippett and Dvorak. She is now turning to rare verismo opera arias, building on a musical journey that reflects her passion and commitment to new challenges.

Her next engagements include a series of concerts in Italy dedicated to the discovery of forgotten Italian composers from the beginning of the 20th century, a series of concert-conferences devoted to the discovery of Italian opera as well as a recital of melodies for voice and flute, with flutist Laurence Schubert.
